RED-HOT Bill Brierley has enjoyed back-to-back wins in the Medlock Bridge AC open match on Alexandra Park Lake.

The Team HB ace started the ball rolling with a 23lb 11oz catch on the pole and pellet.

Brierley struck early, with most of his bream, roach, chub and tench coming in the first three hours of the match.

Bob Harrison, also of Team HB, was second with 20lb 5oz of skimmers, roach and chub on maggot.

Third was Pete Cuniffe, who had 12lb 5oz of roach, chub, tench and perch on the pole and caster.

Brierley followed up with another win, this time using pole and maggot up in the water.

He caught three 1lb chub and some decent roach for 21lb.

Paul Cunliffe landed a few good bream on top of some chub and roach on the waggler and maggot.

Peter Cunliffe (Gilders) was third with 13lb 7oz of roach, perch and chub on pole-fished caster.

STEVE HALL scooped top honours in the Cargate pool open match.

He had carp on worm down the edge as well as three skimmers on pellet for a match-winning 10lb 6oz net.

Billy Brierley, the runner-up, had an 8lb 9oz catch, which included five decent skimmers on pellet at 13 metres.

Organiser Steve Clegg was third-best with a 5lb 12oz bag of four skimmers on pellet at nine and 13 metres and maggot up in the water.

Brierley and Clegg were left to count the cost of losing big carp on their light tackle rigs, which could have clinched victory for either of them.

Monday’s Cargate pool open has been moved to Alexandra Park Lake. Pools are £10 plus £2 for the day ticket. Turn up on the night to enter. Draw up to 5.30pm.

MICHAEL McDONALD won the last of the Cairo AC Wednesday evening series of matches on Alexandra Park Lake.

He weighed in a 16lb 6oz net, which featured skimmers, roach, chub and bream on the long pole and maggot.

Malc Taylor, of Gilders, was the runner-up with the pole and maggot. He had 12lb 8oz of roach, bream and chub.

The overall series winner was Darren Jones, also of Tight Lines.

FENNANT TENNANT (Stalybridge) won the SADAS members only match on Eagle Mill Dam thanks to 15lb of bream on the long pole and caster.

Alan Bolton (Tight Lines) was second with a tench, odd bream and plenty of small fish catch on caster, which weighed in at 13lb 14oz.

Keepnets are banned on all SADAS waters from Monday. The only time keepnets are allowed on SADAS waters is in recognised matches.

LEE HUMPHRIES made a flying start to the Dave Slattery Memorial Series on Chadderton Mill Lodge.

The GTI Matchman rod helped himself to a whopping 64lb 2oz of ide and carp.

Fishing shallow with maggot and caster, he caught plenty of ide before a late switch to paste close in tempted 14lb of carp.

Ian Cox was way behind in second place with 34lb 2oz of ide on worm and caster on the deck at seven metres.

PETER HUMPHRIES continues to show his class on Brookside Fisheries, where he weighed in 69lb of ide and carp on maggot and paste.

TACKLE dealer Gerry Lees (Gilders) took first place in the Chadderton Mill AC match on the club water.

Using just the top section of his pole, he netted 40lb of carp to 14lb and 10lb of ide.

Lee Humphries (GTI Matchman) was second with 49lb of on maggot and caster up in the water, before switching to paste down the side.

LEES and Hey AS visited the Lindholme Lakes, where Alan Steele came out on top with 30lb 2oz of carp.

Using hair-rigged meat, he had a frenzied last hour.

Steve Scott, the runner-up, had 26lb 1oz of carp.
