PLAYERS from Swinton Park enjoyed a double victory in the annual women’s pro-am at Crompton and Royton.

Dave Smith captured the professional’s prize after shooting a five-under-par 65.

And Smith captained his club to victory with the remaining team members Carol Batchelor, Kim Taylor and Trish O’Neill.

Runner-up in the professional’s contest was Nick Sarjent, from Eastham Lodge, who shot 68 while third place went to Crompton and Royton assistant professional Martin Beaty with 71.

Sarjent was joined by M Barker, K Griffin and C Lloyd as they finished runners-up in the team event while third place went to another Eastham Lodge team comprising Martin Shea, P Morris, S Mealing and L Stein.

MARY Buckley triumphed in Lady Vice-Captain’s Prize at OLDHAM after an 18-hole play off in the major.

Buckley and Liz Johnson both returned 39 points in the Stableford to force an extra round which she won by 32 points to 28.

Jane Fletcher finished first in Mr Captain’s Prize, which was also an EWGA medal at WERNETH.

Sheila Whittingham (93-23-70) took the first division sweep from Fiona Dooley (76-4-72).

The second division sweep went to Gail Rowbotham (109-34-75) from second-placed Christine Moon (115-36-79).

The final round of Mrs Captain’s Prize at BLACKLEY saw Anne Tyrer emerge the victor after a round of 88-24-64.

She finished well clear of runner-up Jean Meehan (89-21-68) and third-placed Linda Allen (97-26-71).

Eileen Moores and Pam Taylor won the Daily Mail Foursomes qualifier at SADDLEWORTH with a round of 94-21.5-72.5, comfortably seeing off the challenge of Sue Knebel and Ann Allen (100-22.5-77.5).
