Jubilee honours settled on card

MARK Anderson-Wild triumphed in the Jubilee Trophy at SADDLEWORTH after a round of 73-8-65 as he edged out Jordan Taylor (75-10-65) on the card.

Two shots adrift in third spot was Harold Lill whose return was 84-17-67.

Another piece of silverware was determined as Kevin Rafferty lifted the J W Holt Trophy.

His return of 81-18-63 was three shots clear of second-placed Ben Simpson (70-4-66) who nudged father Gary (71-5-66) into third spot.

Company day at OLDHAM raised £2,500 for Kingfisher School with the team Stableford won by Mark Furnival, Lee Blainey and Steve Mills who scored 106 points.

Runners-up with 104 points were captain Colin Hare, vice-captain Ian McGloughlin and Terry Mills, while third place went to Terry Garrett, Mick Jones and Eddie Mooney, also with 104 points.

Fourth were Dave Bailey, Roger Stansfield and Stuart Wagstaffe (103) while fifth place went to Colin and Nigel Ingle and Gordon Tilzey (101).

The best individual score was 41 points from John Coleman, on the card from Tilzey. Dave Lowe totalled 38.

And the leading woman was Jane Antrobus (33), on the card from Chris Pierson.

Winners of a four-ball betterball Stableford were Paul Bromley and Pete Monks (41) while second were Tilzey and Colin Ingle (40), on the card from Gary Lee and Dave Taylor (40).

Steve Rae was the winner of a singles Stableford with 40 points. Second was Phil Dockerty (37).

Brothers Rick and Rob Irving, Carl Varey and Kevin Mayers were the victors in a four-man am-am at STAMFORD, scoring 98 points.

They finished two clear of Lee, Scott and Matt Merson and Phil Hudson.

Winners of a four-ball betterball Stableford were Carl Varey and Steve Henshall who amassed 45 points.

Second were A Greaves and Michael Shockledge (43) while third place went to Rick and Rob Irving (42).

Schoolboy Jamie Chadwick carded seven pars in a row on the way to victory in the 12-hole midweek Stableford as the 15-year-old scored 30 points.

Neil Rodda (82-18-64) heads the field after the first round of the Vice-Captain’s Prize at BLACKLEY.

Second was Billy Smith (74-8-66), on the card from Allan Howarth (74-8-66).

Mike Clinch (87-21-66) was the clear winner of the monthly medal. Second was Julian Robinson (69-0-69), on the card from Jimmy Booth (86-17-69).

Peter and May Kirkham (45-11-34) were winners of a Wednesday greensome while another greensome produced a victory for Barry Wilson and Barbara Roberts (48-14-34).

CROMPTON AND ROYTON’S midweek Stableford saw Rob Hogarth top the first division with 43 points. Second was Alan Shaw (39), on the card from Tony Costello.

Alex Givvons (39) headed the second division while the runner-up was Bob Jackson (37), on the card from Peter Wright and Jimmy Frizzell.

Bradley Ashford, teenage son of current vice-captain Derek, fired a fine 79-19-60 to win the second Fairway Cup qualifier and medal at WERNETH, pipping veteran Brian Taylor (72–11–61).

And Pete Davies notched 41 points in the midweek Stableford to beat Gary Riley by a similar one-shot margin.
