Procter staying as Royton pro

ROYTON have re-signed Luke Procter as their professional for next season.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed two successful campaigns as paid man at the Paddock.
Averaging almost 60 and closing in on 1,000 runs for 2009, Procter’s batting has reached a new level this season. But he has also made valuable contributions with his medium-fast bowling and has clearly benefitted in both disciplines from expert coaching at Lancashire Cricket Club with whom he has a contract.
Procter has earned several collections this season and will be donating the proceeds to Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.
The current total is £320.
WERNETH have still to appoint a professional for next season and if Roelof Hugo is unable to agree terms with Saddleworth League club Heyside, the South African batsman could be a candidate for the Coppice job in 2010.
Hugo, averaging over 63 for Heyside this summer, was Werneth’s deputy professional against Unsworth on Sunday and made 85 as the local outfit ended a long losing run in the CLL.
