Norman and Gareth Morris
IT’S very much a family affair at Blackley where father and son Norman and Gareth Morris (above) are captain and vice-captain respectively.
Furthermore, Norman’s wife, Clarice, is a former lady-captain of the club.
Alkrington-based Norman (64) took up golf when his rugby-playing days as a prop forward at North Manchester came to an end.
The 14-handicapper, who spent the last six-and-a-half years of his working life as a teaching assistant at Matthew Moss High School, won last winter’s Maniacs League, a winter competition at Blackley, along with playing partner Alan Lane.
Gareth (32) has been a member at Blackley since the age of 11.
The five-handicapper, an accounts manager for JD Sports plc, has enjoyed back-to-back wins in the Bryant Cup and has also lifted the Blackley Trophy.
