Martin Beaty: Heading up the junior academy.
CROMPTON and Royton are celebrating after being awarded the prestigious ‘GolfMark’ accreditation in recognition of their hard work developing junior and beginners sections.
It is the culmination of over 12 months work striving for GolfMark, which also integrates Sport England’s ‘ClubMark.’
GolfMark looks at three areas - coaching and playing; the club environment along with child protection and duty of care.
“Receiving GolfMark will lift the profile of our club which is friendly towards beginners and juniors,” explained club spokeswoman Marjorie Bray.
Crompton and Royton are pro-active towards youth, with assistant professional Martin Beaty forming a junior academy at the High Barn club.
Beaty and Karen Heywood, a professional who is also attached to Crompton and Royton, also coach in local schools as they bid to attract the next generation of golfers.
Beaty, Bray, Andrew Bottomley and Ian Whittaker are the four people from Crompton and Royton who have worked tirelessly to enable the club to achieve GolfMark status.
