ROYTON’S Scott Connor played alongside Lee Westwood, one of the world’s top players, in the Ping Golf Day at Little Aston, Sutton Coldfield.
Westwood played a number of holes with each of the teams with Connor, assistant professional at Manchester Hopwood, describing it as a great experience.
“It was amazing how far he hit the ball,” observed Connor whose team emerged victors on the day with a 10-under-par total.
Connor went round in level par, but the four birdies he scored made a massive contribution to his team.
MARTYN HAMER achieved a top-10 finish in the Lancashire PGA Championship at Accrington.
The professional from Chadderton Fold shot a two-under-par 68 and four-over 74 for a two-round total of 142.
Hamer finished four shots behind winner Sean Doherty from Bury whose 138 comprised 68 and 70.
