Sloan wins pendant

WOMEN’S GOLF: HELEN SLOAN was the winner of the September Pendant at BLACKLEY with a score of 87-12-75.
Runner-up in the EWGA medal was Margery Cox (112-36-76) while third place went to Clarice Morris (95-17-78).
Brenda Hall finished well clear in first place in a two-ball Stableford after amassing 41 points.
Second was Cox (37) while third place went to Sheila Salmon (35).
Julie Ward and Brenda Gates topped the field in an American greensome at SADDLEWORTH.
They scored 42 points in the Stableford which was the same total as runners-up Jane Wild and Pam Taylor.
EWGA No 10 saw Sheila Cooper (98-28-70) triumph from second-placed Muriel Makin (105-33-72).
And the clear winner of a nine-hole Stableford was Brenda Taylor (16pts) from runner-up Elizabeth Norbury (12).
Sylvia Haq finished first in a two-ball Stableford at WERNETH scoring 37 points.
The first division sweep went to Brenda Martin (35pts) from Heather Jeffreys, Jane Fletcher and Fiona Dooley (all 33pts).
Gail Rowbotham (32pts) won the second division sweep from Betty Keating and Kath Lomas (both 28 pts).
OLDHAM Ladies’ Golfers Association held the past captain’s competition at Brookdale over 10 holes.
There was a three-way card play-off at the top after three players totalled 19 points.
Oldham’s Mary Buckley emerged the victor, Brookdale’s Diane Williams was second while third place went to Hazel Rogerson, from Saddleworth.
