Personal bests in abundance

ATHLETICS: OLDHAM and Royton Harriers athletes posted superb times at the Trafford 10k.
Simon Smith led the nine-strong team home with a new personal best of 39 minutes 19 seconds.
Not to be outdone, Jason Horsfield also ran a PB of 40:12 and Karl Smith finished strongly in 41:27 for another new mark.
There were also PBs for Sandrine Fraisse (42:16), Darren Mannings (42:19), Darren Clarkson (4:44, six minutes faster than previous best), and Sharon Horsfield (53:07).
Meanwhile, Pete Williams finished in 44:20 and Sara Bott ran well for 48:40.
At a track meeting in Peterborough, Christopher Brown came home strongly to take fourth place in the 100m final in 15.2s and won the 800m in 2:31.4.
He also finished sixth in the long jump with 3.99m.
The club’s athletes get their cross-country season under way tomorrow with the start of the South-East Lancashire League at Heaton Park.
