MICHAEL Fogerty could make an appearance for Saddleworth Rangers in their top-of-the-table home game against Thatto Heath tomorrow (2.30pm kick off).
Something has to give at Shaw Hall Bank Road, with both sides having won all four National Conference League division one matches up to this point in the season.
The addition of former Keighley and Rochdale centre Fogerty — now a free agent from the professional game — will provide further options for Rangers coach Keith Brennan, who could opt to play the 28-year-old in the second row.
Also back is half-back Adam Kirwan, who will help ease the loss of unavailable skipper Michael Coates, though there are doubts over Gareth Davies (ankle) and Emerson Jackman (shoulder).
“It will be a tough game, as they have all been this year, but it will give us an indication of where we are up to,” said Brennan.
OLDHAM St Anne’s coach Mick Cashin is hoping his side can get back to winning ways away at Ovenden in division two (2.30pm).
While losing for the first time 40-22 at home to Eccles and Salford Juniors last week, Cashin wasn’t too down about his team’s efforts against strong and well-drilled opposition.
Travelling to face a Halifax-based side without a win to their name in the league as yet, he hopes to build on the achievements of the season up to this point.
“We are not downhearted about last week and it is now up to us to bounce back and get a result, though we know it won’t be easy,” Cashin said.
WATERHEAD are at home for the first time in the league this season tomorrow and face a difficult task against unbeaten Egremont (2.30pm).
Coach Mick Slicker is hoping to build on the positive aspects of a 36-28 loss away at Crosfields last week in order to pick up the team’s first points of the season.
But Craig Highton (work commitments), Chris Hepworth (unavailable) and the still-injured Will Schofield are ruled out.
