PETER CUNIFFE showed his class in the last of the Medlock Bridge AC open matches on the Park Lake.

Situated on peg four, the Gilders rod opted for a hemp and caster approach for 15lb 9oz of roach and chub.

Ian Cox (Stalybridge Angling), the runner-up, changed between the pole and waggler with bronze maggot on the hook for 11lb 4oz of roach and perch.

Phil France, in third place, was struggling on the pole, but a switch to the waggler towards the footbridge paid off. He ended up with plenty of chub and a 1lb plus perch for a 6lb 9oz total.

Darren Webb, who organised the Medlock Bridge AC open matches on the Park Lake, would like to thank everyone for their support throughout the summer. These matches have attracted excellent turn-outs, which has been partly due to the tremendous sport on offer, especially early on in the summer, but also because of the smooth running of the matches.

Webb and his helpers deserve a pat on the back for their efforts.

CRANBERRY AC members were treated to some excellent sport in their latest match on Partridge Fisheries’ Pine Lodge.

Jim Wild switched baits — he used meat, corn and pellet on the long pole — to weigh in 20lb of small carp.

But it wasn’t easy as most of his fish came in the final hour.

Chris Bold was second-best. He used the tip and red maggot for 19lb of small carp to edge out Tony Lees, who was third with 8lb of silver fish on the pole and maggot.

Derek Hudson was fourth, with one small carp and plenty of bits on long and short pole making up 5lb 8oz.

OLDHAM Central AC’s Fur and Feather match on Baden Hall’s Lodge pool was dominated by carp.

It was won by Dave Barnett, who snared a 14lb 8oz mirror carp on the pole and paste before a switch to the method feeder enticed another three for 24lb 3oz.

Darren Jones (Tight Lines) was second with three carp on the pole and pellet at six metres for 23lb 13oz.

That was just too good for Jeff Isaacs, whose 21lb 6oz net included three carp and a massive 2lb 8oz perch on the pole and worm down the edge.

Paul Neild (Gilders) was fourth. He had a 10lb 14oz bag made up of two carp on the pole and corn at eight metres.

THE Todmorden AS Trophy match on Townhouse was won by Lee Cavanagh, who registered 22lb 12oz of carp on the pole and pellet.

Mick Clegg was second with 20lb of silver fish, followed by Steve Hall’s 18lb of silvers and small carp.

DAVE Holland claimed top honours in the John Ross open on the Huddersfield Canal near to Stalybridge, where he 3lb 5oz of small fish on pole and squatt.

Failsworth angler Ken Power was second with 2lb 12oz of silvers, followed by Geoff Wyatt’s 2lb 5oz.
