SADDLEWORTH Rangers stretched their lead to seven points in the 2009/10 Rugby Oldham Challenge thanks to a nail-biting 24-22 win over Normanton.
Rangers led 18-6 at the half-way stage, before repelling a Normanton fightback after the break to maintain their 100-per-cent record in division one of the National Conference League.
Oldham St Anne’s are up to second place after they posted a 36–24 win at Castleford Lock Lane.
Waterhead are hot on the heels of Higginshaw in fourth after they registered their second 50-point haul in as many weeks.
After sweeping aside Egremont for their first victory of the season, Mick Slicker’s side followed up by hitting the half-century mark against Ovenden.
The overall competition winners will be decided on a points-per-game basis to take into account differing numbers of league fixtures.
