CHADDERTONIANS suffered a shock exit in the second round of the Lancashire Amateur League’s First XI Cup.

Despite being the better team for the majority of the match, they were beaten 3-2 by division one outfit Castle Hill.

They seemed destined for a place in round three after two goals from Steve Barrrow early on in the second half.

But Castle Hill scored after an hour, before a double strike in the last 10 minutes sealed Chadds’ fate.

In division one, Chadds reserves recorded a fine 5-3 win at pacesetting Accrington Amateurs.

Veterans Jem Sweeney and Craig Stone joined Warren Griffith (two) and Darren Gully on the scoresheet.

Oldham Hulmeians were beaten 6-3 by Hesketh Casuals at Tate Street in division two.

The home side started promisingly and went ahead through Danny Proffitt’s solo effort, but Hesketh’s four-goal blitz either side of half-time put them 4-1 up.

Danny Tate’s double was cancelled out by two further strikes from the visitors, who also had a penalty saved by Chris Frankland.

Chadds ‘A’ are through to the next round of the ‘A’ Team Cup after a 3-2 win at home to Little Lever ‘A’ — Jordan Scholes, Jason Bowes and Dale Myers scored for Chadds — but the holders Chadds ‘B’ are out of the ‘B’ Team Cup after losing 4-1 at Hesketh Casuals ‘B’.

Meanwhile, hat-tricks from Ryan Rafferty and Kevin Duggan saw Hulmeians Reserves register their first win in division five, 7-3 at Mostonians ‘A’. Gary Melia got the other.

But it was a different story for Hulmeians ‘A’ and ‘B’ in division seven as they lost 7-2 (v Rossendale Amateurs ‘C’) and 4-1 (v Bolton Wyresdale ‘B’) respectively.
