OLDHAM Table Tennis League’s Cadets performed well in the National Cadet League.
The A team (Mathew Kelly, James Chappell and Josh Poole) ended with a record of three wins, a loss and a draw from their five matches, putting them second in Division 2.
The B team (Mark Pellowe, Paige Allman, Callum Allman and Adam Newton) did even better with five straight wins, dropping only three sets, to top Division 3.
It was also a great day on Sunday for the Oldham men’s team in the Premier Division of the Lancashire & Cheshire league with four victories over East Lancs, Trafford, Ellesmere Port and Halton.
Darryl Meredith and Tristran Swann were outstanding in going through the day undefeated.
The second team squad of Dave Buckley, Phil Myers, Gary Newton and Ian Quinn were also successful, with victories over Glossop, Blackpool and East Lancs A before succumbing to a powerful Manchester outfit.
The youthful third team had a hard time against more experienced opponents but did gain a good 3-3 draw against Ellesmere Port A.
