Chadds let it slip after late double
Date published: 29 October 2009
CHADDERTONIANS picked up a point at home to Rochdale St Clements in the Lancashire Amateur League — but it should have been all three.
The premier division clash ended all square at 3-3 after the local outfit twice let slip a two-goal lead.
Gareth Coombes and Mark Kearns put Chadds in control, before Rochdale Saints pulled one back.
But a third goal, this time from Martin Kitson, looked to have finally ended their opponents’ resistance.
However, a last-gasp double stunned Chadds.
Failsworth Dynamos also had to settle for a share of the spoils in a goalless draw against Bolton Wryesdale.
In division two, Chadds reserves recorded a 2-1 win at Old Boltonians thanks to goals from Andrew Simpson and Nick Hartley, but Failsworth Dynamos reserves were beaten 3-0 by Ashtonians in division three.
HAT-TRICK
Jordan Scholes, with a hat-trick, led the way as Chadds ‘A’ defeated Prairie United reserves 4-2 in division four. Mark Hendstock was the other marksmen.
Oldham Hulmeians reserves edged past Mostonians ‘A’ 1-0 in division five. Elliot McKinnell grabbed the goal for the Tate Street side.
Hulmeians ‘A’ and ‘B’ both got their first wins of the season in division seven.
The thirds beat Bury GSOB ‘B’ 2-1 with goals from Steve Shalmani and Simon Toms, while the fourths condemned Mostonians ‘B’ to bottom spot with a 3-1 victory.
