DAVE WHITE made it two wins out of two with victory in the Border Anglers winter series on Hollingrove Dam.
Using the pole at 10 and 11 metres with bronze maggot on the hook, he landed 5lb 12oz of roach and skimmers, the biggest of which was 8oz.
In-form Brian Murphy was second with a small carp, two reasonable skimmers of about 10oz and small roach on the pole and maggot at 10 metres.
Lee Denton was third on the day with 3lb 15oz of skimmers to 12oz and roach up to 3oz on the pole and bronze maggot.
Steve Hamer, the organiser, had mainly roach to 6oz for a fourth-best 3lb 12oz.
But he can count himself unfortunate after losing two good bream.
Hamer made up for his disappointment by winning the third match in the series.
SKIMMERS
He had four decent-sized skimmers — the biggest was 1lb 8oz — and smaller skimmers and roach on bronze maggot on the 10 and 11-and-a-half-metre pole for 8lb 4oz.
Hamer was comfortably clear of White, who opted for 10 metres of pole and bronze maggot to tempt 5lb 8oz of small skimmers.
Peter Jackson was third with half-a-dozen small skimmers and roach for 4lb 5oz.
Murphy was fourth with chopped worm and caster attracting a 3lb 8oz net which included a nice crucian as well as skimmers and roach.
The fourth match in the series is on Sunday, November 15.
o TODMORDEN AS’s Trophy match on Croft was won by Rob McEndry, who had a 24lb 8oz mixed net on the pole, feeder and pellet.
Steve Hall, the runner-up, had some good-sized carp on the pole and worm for 14lb 1oz.
Graham Mallinson’s 11lb 2oz was good enough for third. He had silver fish on caster and maggot.
The Todmorden AS annual meeting is on November 11 at Todmorden Social Club (start 7.30pm).
Proposals include an increase in subscriptions; a ban of floating baits in matches; matches to be no more than five hours long, otherwise there will be an intermediate weigh in; outlawing bank walking in matches; no hooks larger than size 14.
