LIVERPOOL football star Jamie Carragher and Paralympic bronze medalist Jamie Burdekin were on hand to present the awards for the 2009 Formby Cycles Sefton Triathlon in which St Joseph’s RC Primary School (Shaw) were major players.
The Sefton Triathlon is the largest event of its kind in the country, with more than 1,000 competitors, and St Joseph’s won the junior boys category as well as being overall junior boys champions.
The school also came second in the overall junior girls category and, in Matthew Walls (Year Six), supplied the overall boys individual winner.
As part of the prize, the school were presented with a signed Liverpool shirt by Carragher (pictured) to auction for their Kilimanjaro-Christies at Oldham fundraising appeal.
