MOSSLEY produced a dramatic late show to set up tonight’s Carlsberg FA Trophy second-qualifying round replay against Brackley Town at Seel Park (kick-off 7.45pm).
The Lilywhites, who are unbeaten in their last 11 league and cup games, were grateful to Steve Moore’s injury-time goal in a 1-1 draw in Northamptonshire on Saturday.
They showed great tenacity against opponents riding high in the Zamaretto League premier division, and manager Chris Willcock will be hoping his side can replicate the same kind spirit on their own patch.
Meanwhile, Mossley’s reward for their 4-0 defeat of Leigh Genesis in the UniBond League Challenge Cup is a third-round tie at Lancaster City on Tuesday, November 24.
OLDHAM Boro boss Tony Mills has challenged his players to step up a gear after they ended a run of six games without a win.
They completed a Vodkat North-West Counties League division one double over Atherton Collieries thanks to goals from Arnold Nsimbe and Tom Hughes.
“It was a gritty performance and just what we needed,” said Mills looking back on the 2-1 victory. “The players were chuffed to bits afterwards and so was I.
“But we can’t afford to rest on our laurels. We’ve got two tough games coming up in AFC Liverpool and Barnoldswick Town. We’ll have to work even harder against those teams.”
MANAGER Paul Buckley will have more options at his disposal when Chadderton resume their North-West Counties League division one campaign at Daisy Hill on Saturday.
Defender Ben Greenidge and midfielder Gaz Morris return from suspension as the Broadway outfit look to recover from their 5-1 defeat at Stone Dominoes in which new-signing James Curley was sent off.
Former Rochdale Town player Rick Sopel, nursing a hamstring strain, was left on the bench as a precaution. He will undergo treatment this week.
Reflecting on the Dominoes defeat, Buckley said: “When they went one-up so early in the game, many people thought we were in for a good hiding.
“But we got back into it through Martin Love’s goal and were doing well, only for James Curley to get sent off.
“That completely changed the game and we were punished for silly mistakes after that.”
