Chaddy End brush aside title rivals

AMATEUR FOOTBALL: CHADDY End are still on course to be crowned North-West Champion of Champions.
The D&J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League outfit are through to the last eight of the competition after a 2-1 win over Brushes Rangers, representing the Tameside Sunday League.
Nick Alexander got both goals for Chaddy End, who are at home to either holders Langley or Oyster Martyrs in the quarter-finals.
It was also a good day for the Oldham Sunday League in the County Cup, with Highfield United defeating Irlam Rangers 1-0 and Rose of Lancaster overcoming De La Salle 5-4, but Oddies were beaten 3-2 at home to Holton.
Meanwhile, it’s a case of as you were in the Jack Abbott premier division, with Khartoum Northern and FC Broadgate remaining second and third respectively.
Northern swept aside Failsworth Dynamos 4-0, while Broadgate won 2-1 at Coppice United.
Only one game went ahead in David Giblin division one, with Bridge winning 3-2 at Parkside.
There is a three-way tie at the top of division two.
Northside ruined Rifle Range Royal Blues’ 100-per-cent record with a 1-0 victory.
They are level on points with Rifle Range and Lark Inn, who registered a 3-2 win over Lowerhouse United ‘B’.
Famous King George are also in the hunt for promotion — they hammered Springhead Libs 10-1 — and Royal Oak were also among the goals, sweeping aside Oldham United 9-1.
In a clash of two mid-table teams, Crompton and Royton and Old Grey Mare fought out a 1-1 draw.
