SADDLEWORTH Rangers will have to overcome their bogey team tomorrow to stay at least three points clear at the top of National Conference League division one.

West Bowling come to visit at Shaw Hall Bank Road (2.30pm kick off) boosted by the fact they won 16-14 at the same ground almost exactly a year ago, following that up with another narrow victory over Rangers on home turf, 12-10 in March.

This time around, Saddleworth sit proudly in first place while the Bradford-based side are nestled in ninth spot.

Rangers coach Keith Brennan is wary, though.

“We know that they will be difficult opponents and we need to be on our toes,” said Brennan, who is likely to select a similar side to the one that comfortably saw off Heworth last week.

OLDHAM St Anne’s slipped off the lead in division two last week after their away game against Shaw Cross Sharks was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Tomorrow, Saints are at home to a revitalised East Leeds side who will be tricky opponents.

“We had a tough game over there and only won by a couple of points,” said St Anne’s coach Mick Cashin who is still without long-term injured Alex Eyres and Andy Wallace, with David Cookson (shoulder) struggling.

“It will be a difficult game. The weather conditions may make the pitch heavy which wouldn’t suit us too badly, though they are a big side themselves.”

Saints are currently a point behind Eccles, but with a game in hand over them.

WATERHEAD have no first-team game tomorrow, contrary to the fixture list published in the trade press and on the National Conference League website.
