LATE-GOAL specialist Steven Moore earned Mossley, from UniBond League division one north, a second bite of the cherry against Ilkeston Town in the third qualifying round of the Carlsberg FA Trophy.

The striker, who scored with a last-gasp effort at Brackley Town to clinch a replay in the previous round, cancelled out Sam Duncum’s goal as the Lilywhites came from behind to draw 1-1.

The teams will try again at Seel Park tomorrow night (kick-off 7.45pm).

Chances were few and far between in a dull first-half. Mossley ‘keeper Peter Collinge denied Gary Rickett and Amari Morgan-Smith while, at the opposite end, Steve Settle forced a good save from Dan Lowson and Karl Brown’s inswinging corner was cleared off the line.

Ilkeston, who play in two divisions higher than Chris Willcock’s side in Blue Square North, went ahead after 55 minutes when Duncum cut out a poor pass across the face of the Mossley area and turned inside Andy Russell, before slotting the ball beyond Collinge.

Rickett then fired wide and Dan Holmes hit a post as the hosts piled on the pressure.

But Mossley rode their luck and equalised with 10 minutes to go. Jordan Goodeve played the ball through the centre of defence for Moore, who applied a cool finish.

NEITHER Oldham Boro nor Chadderton were in Vodkat North-West Counties League division two action.

Boro’s home game was called off on Friday as opponents Daisy Hill had to play a hastily-rearranged FA Vase clash against Armthorpe Welfare. The tie was scheduled to take place last Wednesday, but was postponed.

Chadderton’s fixture at Holker Old Boys, who play on the outskirts of Barrow-in-Furness, fell foul of the awful weather in Cumbria.
