Hockey team’s six of the best

OLDHAM Ladies continued their impressive start to the new hockey season with a 6-0 win at Manchester University 3rd.
Following hot on the heels of winning the Greater Manchester Division 1 Cup, Oldham’s first team are unbeaten and currently top the league.
This latest success was achieved with goals from player-of-the-match Louise Kershaw (2), Karen Rowley (3) and Oona Cassidy.
The second team played at home against Manchester University 2nd and went down 3-1 despite Charlotte Cope putting them ahead in the first half.
Goalkeeper Jen Green won the player-of-the-match accolade for several outstanding saves.
The third team played in the Division 3 Cup and finished fourth overall with stand-out performances from Donna Tindall, Rachel Geraghty and leading goalscorer Karen Lord.
It has been a hectic off-season for the club as a merger with Saddleworth Ladies has enabled them to create three teams, all of which have made a bright start.
The first and second teams play in Greater Manchester Women’s Hockey Association Division 1, and the third team in Division 3.
