Amateur snooker round up

LEAGUE VICTORY for Stanley Road has put them back on top of the Oldham Amateur Snooker League alongside Springbank B who managed a battling 4-2 victory at home to Chadderton Reform,


With Springbank B 3-1 ahead on the night, but very little in the aggregate, the last frame was decisive.

Dean Smyth won the final frame for the away side but the aggregate scores were level. Clive Rushworth managed to hold his nerve and won the black ball re-spot to give Springbank B the aggregate point.

Nimble Nook are starting to put some daylight between themselves and the chasing pack at the top of the cards table. A 3-1 victory has opened up a four-point gap between the leaders and second-placed Little Cot A.

Academy success

OLDHAM Snooker Academy registered an impressive 6-1 win at Belle Vue ‘A’ in the Manchester Snooker League.

England international Michael Wild lost the opening match of the night, but it was one-way traffic after that point as Craig Atherton, Ian Atherton, Mick Dickenson and Sajid Zamurd recorded victories.

Oldham also picked up two points for the aggregate to extend their lead at the top of the table.

The ‘B’ team are up to third place after a 5-2 success at home to Chorlton. There were wins for captain Kamran Saeed, Mohammed Ehsan and Tanveer Hussain, who had a break of 31.

Next up for Oldham ‘A’ team is a home match against Reddish Cons ‘A’, while the ‘B’ team are away to Reddish Cons ‘B’.
