Disappointment for Moreton

OLDHAM town team player John Moreton suffered final disappointment in the Lancashire Men’s Classic at Fleetwood.
He was beaten 3-2 by Blackpool’s Ian Lilley, who claimed the winner’s cheque of £500.
Moreton, who picked up £200, triumphed 3-0 over Dave Chisnall in the last four. Chisnall, from St Helens, was hoping to add the Classic to the Open Singles title he had won on the the first day of the Lancashire Festival of Darts.
Moreton and Oldham team-mate Peter Connolly are in action for Lancashire this weekend against Cambridgeshire at the Halliwell Central Reform Club, Bolton.
Mother and daughter, Janet Fox and Shareen Downs, are in the women’s team for the county match.
