Winning weekend

HOCKEY: Oldham Ladies hockey club enjoyed a winning weekend in Greater Manchester Women’s Division 1 and the national knockout.
The top-of-the-table first team were too strong for Didsbury 3rds, winning 5-0 thanks to goals from Karen Rowley (2), player-of-the-match Rachael Johnson (2) and Louise Howard.
And they followed up with victory over old rivals City of Manchester in the England Knockout Vase second round. Captain Gill Tetlow lead by example as goals from Rowley, Howard and Yvonne Jackson secured the win.
The second team scored a much-needed 3-0 league win over Manchester University thanks to player-of-the-match Laura Rice (2) and Christine Holman.
