BOXING: “LADIES and gentlemen, in the blue corner, from Oldham, it’s Ronnie ‘The Razor’ Heffron.”
Rising boxing star Ronnie Heffron has got himself a nickname, thanks to OIdham Evening Chronicle reader Louise Gilder..
Louise came up with ‘Razor’ after an appeal in the newspaper by Richard Maynard, head of media for Heffron’s manager Frank Warren.
Louise said: “I’m well-chuffed. I’ve followed Ronnie’s career, so it’s nice he’s chosen my suggestion.”
The 19-year-old from Horsedge Street makes his professional debut in Newcastle on Saturday. Big-fight preview in tomorrow’s Chronicle.
