ANGLING: TEENAGER Aiden Bordiek (Tight Lines) is putting the adults to shame in the Chadderton Mill AC winter series by consistently picking up placings and money.

Winner of several matches already this season, Aiden took the latest match on the club water with a brilliant 43lb.

Drawn on peg nine Aiden fished long pole and sweetcorn on the deck for ten carp averaging around the 4lb mark.

Organiser Lee Humphries must take some of the credit as he has spent many an hour helping Aiden and other youngsters on the water.

Second-placed Ian Cox (Stalybridge) had a busy day switching between the pole and tip to catch three carp and plenty of ide on worm and maggot for 22lb 10oz, with Conrad Taylor (Gilders) on 14lb 10oz.

THE Cairo AC fur and feather match on Combs Reservoir was a decent affair despite pouring rain. Everyone caught and weights were quite good.

Michael McDonald (Gilders) was first with the tip and red maggot netting him 10lb 1oz of skimmers and roach.

Mick Jewitt (Tight Lines Shaw ) was second with similar tactics that brought him 8lb 9oz of skimmers and roach. Malc Taylor (Gilders) tempted 6lb 6oz for third.

CAN you believe that world match angling body are talking about having a world championship feeder match?

The idea was put forward by South Africa at last week’s CIPS meeting in Rome. Swimfeeder and legering has been banned in the past at world level so it really is a change of heart to include these methods.

The first world championship swimfeeder match will be held at the Angling Games in Italy in 2011.

The CIPS (world governing body for match fishing) has switched the Freshwater World Championships from September to June.

The 2010 event, which is to be held on Spain’s Vicario Reservoir, has been moved due to low water levels and fish mortality rates in the hotter September to a slightly cooler June time.

The European Championships move from June to September.
