Praise for Phil
ROYTON Town secretary Phil Dean has received glowing praise from the club’s website manager John Barratt, writes JOHN GILDER.

Dean has spent many long hours sweating over the surface at Crompton Cricket Club in an attempt to get it fit for play.

Barratt said: “It isn’t the greatest pitch in the league and we had to spend a lot of time and effort working on the drainage system a couple of years ago.

“But Phil’s work is a real bonus to us and, although he won’t like me mentioning it, he does a really good job.”

Dean’s tireless work isn’t restricted to Royton Town FC.

As secretary of the Pinchitos darts team and Roytonians cricket team, similar efforts ensure the smooth running of the two organisations.
