Tate goal to no avail for Hulmeians

AMATEUR FOOTBALL: OLDHAM Hulmeians lost 4-1 at Old Mancunians reserves in division two of the Lancashire Amateur League.
Danny Tate tapped in to cancel out the home side’s early opener but Hulmeians were only on level terms for a few minutes before Mancunians restored their advantage.
And that’s how it stayed until the last five minutes when the visitors were caught twice on the counter attack, the first of those goals coming after Chris Frankland had saved a penalty.
Failsworth Dynamos reserves are preparing for an assault on the division three title after a 6-1 win over their Lymm counterparts.
Tom Stuttard (two), Mike Brady, Mark Boland, Reece Lyndon and Louis Harding got the goals.
Dynamos would go third if they win their two games in hand and they still have to play the top two teams.
Games involving the other local sides were washed out.
Heyside repel late fightback
HEYSIDE had to stave off a late fightback to beat Scholes 3-2 in reserve division two of the Huddersfield and District League.
Goalless at half-time, Nick Campbell’s double strike and a Ryan Pugh effort put the local outfit on course for a comfortable win.
But Heyside were hanging on at the end after a lack of concentration in defence allowed Scholes to score twice in the final 10 minutes.
Elsewhere, Peter Ward scored for Uppermill ‘A’ in a 1-1 draw against Honley.
