OLDHAM Ladies hockey club qualified two teams for the next round of the Greater Manchester All Divisions Cup, which operates on a handicap basis.
The first team played Rochdale who, being two divisions below Oldham, started the game with a 2-0 advantage.
Oldham were the better team but, frustratingly, couldn’t find the back of the net throughout the first half of their game at Failsworth School.
The breakthrough finally came in the second period with a goal from Oona Cassidy and she quickly followed up with the equaliser before Yvonne Jackson netted to earn a 3-2 win.
The third team (Division 3) played Division 2 Urmston and started the game with a 1-0 advantage.
Oldham turned in a tremendous team performance and a goal from Deborah Alcock secured them a 2-0 victory.
Player of the match was awarded to Rachel Geraghty, with ‘keeper Alison Chadwick not far behind.
Sophie Thompson also did well and Sarah Burns made a crucial diving clearance.
