Cup exit for sorry Mossley

FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY were beaten 3-0 by Lancaster City last night in round three of the UniBond League Challenge Cup.
The Lilywhites, who were without five regulars, fell behind after 20 minutes when Mike Rushton finished off the first move of any real purpose.
Chris Willcock’s side forced a couple of corners before half-time which caused panic in the Lancaster defence, but they lacked a cutting edge without the cup-tied Mike Fish and Steven Moore, who was unavailable because of work commitments.
The hosts were happy to play on the break, and this tactic paid dividends in the 72nd minute when Rushton doubled his side’s tally, before substitute Jordan Connerton made it three late on.
