ANGLING: CONRAD Taylor (Gilders) claimed top spot in the latest round of the Chadderton Mill AC Winter League fished on the club water.
Taylor’s draw on peg six enabled him to cast corn to the island and he caught several carp, the biggest being around the twelve pounds mark, before a switch to the pole netted him carp and ide for a 27lb total.
Andrew Mitchell (GTI Gilders) fished a cracking match from unfancied peg 12, netting 19lb 12oz of carp and ide which fell to maggot fished on the deck close in.
Alan Shaw (Tight Lines, Shaw) was a little worse for wear after a surprise 60th birthday bash caused him to arrive late for the match.
It did not matter, as he weighed in a third-best 16lb 8oz net including two carp and loads of ide taken on the pole and maggot from peg two.
Section winners were Mick Tighe and Ian Cox, both with 14lb 8oz.
THIS week’s Meermoor Fisheries open match on lake one was won by Keith Dennis with a pole and pellet catch of 80lb 2oz net made up of carp to 6lb.
Second was Darren Webb (Medlock Bridge AC), whose pellet at 12 metres approach netted him 47lb 8oz of carp.
Tied for third were Paul Gibson and Andy Merrill with 45lb 10oz.
Lake two at Meermoor was less productive, with winner Dave Plant weighing in 36lb 12oz of carp to beat Fred Prudham (Medlock Bridge AC), whose pole and pellet accounted for a level 35lb of carp. Tommy Lomas was third with 26lb 8oz of carp, taken on pole and pellet.
BRADSHAW Fisheries are running a Boxing Day open match, the draw for which will be held at 9am.

Venue guide
Huddersfield narrow canal – Mossley area around Roaches Lock, good for a few fish.
At this time of year, bread punch comes into its own and it is no different on this canal. There are some decent pike to be had, too, with deadbait or spinning good.
Rochdale canal – Still consistent, even at this time of year. Best area is the chicken run at Stakehill. Bream are a possibility on the aptly-named bream bend at Boarshaw.
Further down the canal at the Rose of Lancaster there are some good roach to be had. Bread or caster where the canal starts to shallow will catch you a few, with the odd tench throwing in an appearance.
Chadderton Mill lodge – Carp and ide are feeding well to corn or maggot.
Pegs in the middle of the lake are best and don’t be frightened of trying right down the edge in the shallow water as the carp do move there sometimes.
Hollingrove dam – Pole, waggler and bronze maggot for skimmers and roach.
Hollingworth Lake – No silvers showing, but plenty of pike falling to deadbait and spinning. Day tickets on the bank.
