AFC OLDHAM 2005 are up to sixth place in division one of the Lancashire and Cheshire League after a 4-2 win at Newton Heath.
But there was precious little else to smile about as Santos AFC and Oldham Victoria tasted defeat in division two.
Santos had a first half to forget as they went down 4-1 at East Manchester.
Starved of possession, they fell behind when ’keeper Thomas Keating was unable to claim a cross, and they conceded again early in the second half.
Adam McKinney pulled a goal back for the visitors, and Paul Marsh had two great chances to equalise — both were one-on-ones with the ’keeper — but the opportunities went begging
And, with Santos pushing forward, East Manchester added two more goals on the break.
Oldham Vics suffered a 6-1 reverse at Tintwistle Athletic, and their second string were beaten 3-1 at Abacus Media reserves in division ‘C’.
Santos reserves against Bedians thirds in division ‘D’ was postponed.
Simon has last word
AFC ROYTON were fortunate to record a 3-2 win over Rochdale Asia reserves in the Rochdale On-line’s C Potts Cup competition.
Goals from Carl Lawton and Jason Wilcox put the local outfit in command, only for their opponents to reduce the deficit before half-time.
Heroic goalkeeping from Luke Grant kept Asia at bay, but they eventually found a way through and looked favourites to win the game.
However, Simon Atkinson started and finished a move to win the game for Royton.
