BOWLS:
HOPWOOD have given themselves an outside chance of winning the Inbev Winter Bowling League’s ‘A’ Division title following their 9-2 defeat of champions Royle at snowbound Chadderton Cot.
In conditions bordering on the farcical, Hopwood adapted better than their rivals in this rearranged match, Clive Chapman leading the way with a 21-5 victory over Dave Murray.
Earlier, North Chadderton defeated Prestwich 10-1 in another rearranged match in the ‘B’ Division, but yesterday’s game between North Chadderton and Lees/Springhead - which should have been played on September 27 - fell victim to the Arctic conditions.
The game will now be played on Boxing Day.
