Road are back on track

SNOOKER:
STANLEY Road returned to winning ways in the Oldham Amateur Snooker League with a 5-1 triumph at Little Cot ‘A’.
S J Raynor took a tight first frame by one point before K Halliwell added the second for the away side.
M Kennedy pulled one back for Little Cot with an emphatic 106-1 victory which included a break of 42, but R Hickman and S Percival took the last two frames for Stanley Road to complete a 5-1 victory.
The win lifted Stanley Road into second place, one point behind Springbank ‘B’, who end 2009 at the top.
Meanwhile, a last-frame 31 break by A Hussain helped 3Cs to a 5-1 victory at home to Little Cot ‘B’.
A 4-0 win at cards has lifted Stanley Road into top spot, two points ahead of Nimble Nook.
A league delegates meeting will take place on Sunday, January 10 (12.30pm) at Chadderton Reform.

Oldham Snooker Academy, from the Manchester Snooker League, had a double cause for celebration in the first round of a three-man team knockout.
The ‘A’ team recorded a 31-point victory over Denton — the matches over two frames are decided on aggregate — while the Academy ‘B’ edge out Reddish Cons ‘A’ in a final blue thriller.
