Lights out at Mossley
Date published: 07 January 2010
TWO floodlight pylons at Mossley’s Seel Park ground have collapsed.
The pylons, which were erected in 1972, came down after strong winds and sub-zero temperatures caused the structures to crack.
Club commercial secretary John Larner said: “We are processing an insurance claim and getting quotes for two replacements.
“We have disconnected the electrics on one of the pylons and are trying to complete the second this week.
“We have also put a request to Tameside Council to cover the cost of any shortfall on insurance money for replacements.”
The kick-off for Mossley’s home match against Garforth Town on Saturday in UniBond League division one north has been brought forward to 1.30pm, although it is unlikely the game will go ahead because of ice and snow.
