Saints in cup agony

RUGBY LEAGUE: A WEEKEND in which local clubs were hoping to land money-spinning ties in later rounds of the Carnegie Challenge Cup ended in disappointment.
Plucky Oldham St Anne's suffered an agonising 13-12 defeat at home to Wigan St Jude's, who are two divisions higher than Saints in the National Conference League.
Also in round one, Saddleworth Rangers lost 22-8 against reigning NCL champions Siddal, and Waterhead were beaten 32-10 by Pennine League premier division outfit Drighlington in a preliminary round clash at Waterhead Park.
Reports, reaction and pictures in tomorrow's Evening Chronicle.
