AMATEUR FOOTBALL: LIMESIDE Athletic ‘A’ are through to the next round of the Manchester FA Sunday Cup — but Rose of Lancaster’s hopes of silverware glory are over.

In the Jack Abbott premier division, R Street hit the perfect hat-trick — goals with his right and left foot plus a header — for FC Broadgate, who moved within striking distance of the top with a 4-3 win over Oddies Athletic. S Hinchcliffe got the other Broadgate goal, a superb 40-yard free-kick.
Failsworth Dynamos claimed maximum points in an 11-goal thriller at home to FC Royton — they won 6-5 — and title-chasing Khartoum Northern went nap in a 5-2 defeat of Lowerhouse United ‘A’.
Failsworth Athletic remain rooted to the bottom of the table after drawing 2-2 against Coppice United.
There were goals galore in division one, where Parkside recorded an 8-4 success at Royton Athletic, and promotion hopefuls Red Star also hit eight in the mid-table battle against Wellington.
M King scored five times for Bridge Inn, but his fine individual effort was only good enough to secure a draw at home to table-toppers Fitton Hill Rangers. The match finished all-square at 6-6.
Despite the draw, Rangers remain five points clear at the top of the table after Highfield United shared four goals with basement boys Westwood.
Division two also boasted its share of goals as the league resumed after a five-week break.
Lowerhouse United ‘B’ put five past Crompton and Royton, as did Springhead Libs in a 5-2 defeat of Oldham United.
And Lark Inn advertised their championship credentials with a 5-3 win at Famous King George.
But Northside FC remain second after a hard-fought 2-1 victory at North Star Athletic.
In the other fixture, Old Grey Mare and Limeside Athletic ‘B’ provided plenty of excitement in a 4-4 draw.

Wardle equalised through a deflected effort, but the visitors were back in front when Dave Bates converted a spot-kick.
All-square at the break, Quins nosed ahead again when Andrew Simpson capitalised on a defensive mix-up to lob the ’keeper.
But a sustained spell of pressure paid off for Wardle, who levelled for the third time.
