AMATEUR RUGBY LEAGUE:
NONE of the weekend’s amateur rugby league fixtures involving local sides managed to beat the freeze.
The BARLA National Cup round two match between Oldham St Anne’s and Rylands is now scheduled to take place this coming weekend at Higginshaw Road.
The two other ties at the same stage — Higginshaw v Hunslet Warriors and Saddleworth Rangers v Wigan St Cuthbert’s — are also set to be played on Saturday. But both will now have their venues switched in accordance with competition rules, having failed to fulfil the fixture played on consecutive weekends.
That means both Higginshaw and Saddleworth now lose home advantage.
In National Conference League division two, Waterhead’s home match against Stanley Rangers was also postponed due to a frozen playing surface.
