Point for profligate Chadds

AMATEUR FOOTBALL:

CHADDERTONIANS wasted a bundle of first-half chances in a 1-1 draw at home to second-placed Howe Bridge Mills in the Lancashire Amateur League premier division.

The local outfit controlled the opening period and should have been comfortably in front before Mills took a shock lead. But Chadds were soon back on level terms courtesy of Steve Barrow.

The second half was dull in comparison, with few opportunities for either team.

Chadds reserves’ poor run of form continued as they were beaten 2-1 at division two table-toppers Prestwich.

Warren Griffith put Chadds ahead, but the hosts hit back to take the spoils with two second-half goals.

In their first game for 11 weeks, Chadds ‘B’ won 4-2 at Thornleigh ‘A’. Chris O’Toole notched a hat-trick and Adam Flint got the other.


A FROZEN pitch put paid to Oldham Hulmeians’ game at Accrington Amateurs in division two.

Hulmeians’ second, third and fourth-team matches were also postponed for the same reason, while the cold weather also put paid to matches involving Failsworth Dynamos.

Vics fall prey to clinical Eagles

FROST put paid to all first-team football matches involving local clubs in the Lancashire and Cheshire League.

But the reserves were in action, and Oldham Victoria were beaten 3-0 at Eagles in division ‘C’.

In division ‘D’, AFC Oldham 2005 registered a 3-0 win at Heaton Mersey and Santos FC picked up a point in a 3-3 draw at Old Stretfordians fourths.Four-goal Royton stretch their lead

AFC ROYTON brushed aside Fothergill and Whittles reserves 4-1 to move three points clear at the top of the Rochdale On-line Alliance division two.

Danny Cole struck early with a well-taken penalty, followed by further goals from Carl Lawton and Shane Stott, before Fothergill’s pulled one back.

Royton continued to press in the second half, but missed out on improving their goal average with some wayward finishing.

However, Danny Whitelegge added a fourth late on.
