NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL:

TONY MILLS is preparing his Oldham Boro side for the ultimate test in Vodkat North-West Counties League division one tomorrow.

Second-bottom Boro are at home to Stone Dominoes, who riding high with a six-point lead.

But Mills is confident that Boro, with goalscoring midfielder Tom Hughes back in the fold and new signing Shaun Roscoe in the squad, can push their title-chasing opponents every step of the way at the Whitebank Stadium.

“I’ll tell the players to get in their faces, because if you let them have time on the ball, they will cut you to pieces,” said Mills.

“We’re not overawed by them, far from it, I honestly don’t think there is much between us.

“Although we tend to struggle at their place, we always give them a good game here and, after a couple of team meetings, the boys are very positive.”

Roscoe, who can play anyway on the left-hand side, was expected to complete his transfer from Bacup today.

Full-back Charlie Clarke and frontman Darren Scanlan are also available.

CHADDERTON manager Paul Buckley is eager to follow up their 3-2 victory at Eccleshall when they play host to Norton United tomorrow.

Frustrated by a frozen pitch last Saturday — the fixture was postponed at lunchtime — the Broadway outfit are looking to carry on where they left off two weeks ago in NWCL division one.

Buckley said: “We desperately wanted to play at Cheadle Town, because any win instils confidence and we wanted to build a bit of momentum.

“We’ve now got look back to the Eccleshall game and produce a similar display against Norton.

“They are directly below us in the table, so it’s a match we’ve got to win.”

Mark Edgerton (work), Andrew Pheby (suspended) and Marvin Walters (injured) are the only absentees for Chadderton.

Striker James Curley can play again after completing a three-game ban which started in the autumn.

LIFTED by a gutsy 3-3 draw at home to FC Halifax Town in midweek, new Mossley boss John Flanagan will expect a repeat performance when Prescot Cables visit Seel Park tomorrow (kick-off 2pm).

Andy Watson scored an injury equaliser on Tuesday night against the side pushing for promotion from UniBond League division one north.

Cables, on the other hand, sit ninth in the table and some way adrift of the play-off places.

The Lilywhites, who down in 17th, are 10 points adrift of this weekend’s rivals but boast five games.
