Non-league round-up:

OLDHAM Boro manager Tony Mills saluted the impact of his three new signings after a 2-2 draw at home Stone Dominoes in division one of the Vodkat North-West Counties League.

Tom Hughes, returning to the Whitebank Stadium after a brief stint at Trafford FC, and ex-Bacup Borough duo Sean Roscoe Matty Hampson all made their mark.

Hughes broke the deadlock inside the opening 60 seconds — Hampson was involved in the build up — and Roscoe scored Boro’s second as Boro belied their lowly status against a Stone team riding high at the top of the table.

Mills said: “Those three players provide quality on the ball and I was very pleased at how they performed.

“In fact, the whole team deserves praise and I can take a lot of positives out of the performance.

“They showed spirit and desire against the division’s top team and it is a result that can hopefully take us forward.”

MANAGER Paul Buckley looked on the bright side after Chadderton were held to a 1-1 draw by Norton United in NWCL division one.

The Broadway outfit, who were looking to build on their excellent win at Eccleshall, were guilty of missing a hatful of chances in the stalemate.

Buckley said: “It’s pointless being negative about the result, we’ve got to look at the positives.

“We created plenty of opportunities to win the game and we also defended very well. Apart from the goal, Lee Swanson only had one save to make.

“It’s also two games undefeated, and we’ve got a great chance of making it three at home to bottom-of-the-table Rochdale Town on Saturday.”

Chadderton will be without Gaz Morris for this weekend’s clash. He has received a two-game ban for being sent off against Eccleshall.
