ANGLING: CONRAD TAYLOR (Gilders) won the latest of the Chadderton Mill AC winter series on the club water, where weights were steady rather than spectacular.

He had one carp and loads of ide making up his 24lb 8oz, taken on the pole and maggot from the consistent peg eight.

Paul Hill (Gilders) can’t stop drawing peg 14 and making the frame, taking second place with three carp, some orfe and loads of skimmers, ide, roach and rudd all falling to the tip and maggot.

Mick Tighe (Gilders) took third with two carp and some bits taken on the tip and maggot making up his 10lb 4oz.

Fourth and a section winner was Alan Shaw (Tight lines Shaw with one carp and a few ide taken on the tip and maggot and weighing 9lb 8oz. Chris Shaw (Stalybridge Angling Centre) was the other section winner with his all-carp net weighing 8lb 7oz.

STEVE FITPATRICK (Tight Lines Shaw) took first place in the star-studded Blundells Fisheries open match fished on all of the complex’s waters. Steve fished pellet for 38lb 10oz of small carp and silvers fish.

THE Todmorden AS Trophy match was fished on a freezing cold Croft Fishery where Simon Newsham took the winner’s cheque with 4lb 3oz of silver fish taken on the pole.

STAFFORDSHIRE’S Carney’s Pool is a really consistent water and even in the winter weights are superb, as proved in this week’s match won by Robert Dale with a 26lb catch that consisted of carp to 3lb taken on the pole and pellet.

Rob Tooth was second, the pole and pellet also netting him carp to 3lb in a final 23lb 8oz net that just beat Failsworth rod Ian Walvin into third with the maggot and waggler netting him six good-sized carp that weighed 21lb 8oz.
