AMATEUR FOOTBALL: CHADDY End are in good heart for this weekend’s Manchester County FA Sunday Shield semi-final, first leg.
Danny Dorward’s side, the reigning D&J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League Jack Abbott premier division champions, recorded a 5-0 win at Lowerhouse United ‘A’.
Attention now turns to Sunday’s last-four tie against Langley Celtic, from the Middleton and District League, on the 3G at Chapel Road (kick-off 12.30pm).
It’s as a case of as you were at the top of the premier division table.
Khartoum Northern, leaders on goal-difference, overcame Coppice United 4-2, while nearest rivals FC Broadgate registered a 3-2 win at home to FC Royton.
Basement boys Failsworth Athletic scored five against Oddies Athletic, but it was only good enough for a share of the spoils.
And the fixture between Failsworth Dynamos and High Crompton CC ended all square at 2-2. See Match of the Day.
There is also no change in the race for David Giblin division one honours.
Fitton Hill Rangers notched a 4-2 victory at Parkside and Highfield United defeated Bridge Inn by the same scoreline.
Westwood enjoyed a great 6-1 win at Wellington. They are still bottom of the table, but are now in touching distance of safety.
Rose of Lancaster are also heading in the right direction after a 7-1 at Royton Athletic.
Oldham United had plenty to celebrate in division two.
At the ninth attempt, they recorded a first league win of the season, beating Old Grey Mare 3-1.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, Rifle Range Royal Blues enhanced their title hopes.
Already sitting pretty at the top of the table, they swept aside Lark Inn, who are third, 3-0.
Northside remain five points adrift in second place after a 7-4 defeat of Limeside Athletic ‘B’.
Royal Oak overcame North Star Athletic 3-1, but Famous King George lost ground after they were held to a 4-4 draw by Crompton and Royton.
