Hollinwood defence buckles
Date published: 18 February 2010
AMATEUR RUGBY: A MISERABLE season for Hollinwood continued as they were beaten 54-16 at home by Underbank in division four.
Despite one of the worst records of points for and against in all the Pennine Leagues, Hollinwood looked bright on attack at times.
The local side managed to score tries through Chris Collins, Alistair Williams and Darren Cooper, who also kicked a pair of conversions.
But the game was over by half-time with the visitors building up a 32-10 lead and unless Hollinwood’s defence can start to match up to the attack then it will be a long, hard season.
Rob Penswick was Hollinwood’s top performer, with Neil Messenger, Williams, Jamie Bowden and Andy Charlton also standing out.
