Stanley go joint top

IT was first versus second in the Oldham Amateur Snooker League as top club CBC played host to Stanley Road.

With CBC going into the match holding a four-point lead, any sort of victory would have kept them clear at the top and when P Ashton took the first frame things were looking good for the home side.

However, Stanley Road hit back with victories for M Allen, K Halliwell, G Hickman and S J Rayner for a 5-1 victory which puts them level on 99 points at the top of the table.

A 44 break from MJ Smith in the last frame sealed a 6-0 whitewash for Deaf B at home to Nimble Nook - putting them a point behind the leaders in joint third place alongside Blue Club B and Moss Inn A.

Deaf A travelled to North Chadd and a 40 break from Michael Smith gave them the last frame. However, North Chadd took the spoils 4–2.

Nimble Nook remain the team to catch at the top of the card table, their 3-1 win keeping them three points clear of Stanley Road.

OLDHAM Snooker Academy ‘A’ extended their advantage to 17 points in division one of the Manchester Snooker League after an impressive 6–1 defeat of Staly Vegas.

Wins came from Craig Atherton, Mick Smith, Sajid Zamurd and Ian Atherton.

The ‘B’ team are riding high in division two.

They lead by seven points after a 6-1 success at Benchill Cons. Nasser Khan, Nadeem Hussain, Kamran Saeed and Tanveer Hussain were victorious.
