Carp-king Lee out on his tod

ANGLING: LEE Kavanagh, using pellet hookbait fished in conjunction with the feeder, netted several carp for a winning total of 19lb 9oz in Sunday’s Todmorden AS Trophy match fished on Town House.

John Mellor is usually in the frame and again he showed his consistency with a second-best 11lb 6oz of carp and skimmers taken on pole-fished pellet.

There was a bit of a drop in the weights to third, with Graham Mallinson taking that spot with 3lb 7oz of silvers tempted by the pole, pellet and pinkie.

Fish of the day was a tench taken by Graham Mallinson, worth £33.

TODMORDEN AS are renovating Ramsden Wood Fishery with a new spillway, as well as new fishing platforms and pathways, all of which should be completed by Easter.

Todmorden are running an open match on Townhouse on Sunday, with the draw up to 8.30am and the match fished between 10am and 3pm.

DIGGLE AC membership is now due for renewal and anglers can save themselves money if they pay their subs before March 31. Prices before that date are: Seniors £30, OAPs £20, juniors £15. After March 31: Seniors £50, OAPs £20, juniors £20. For a second rod, the price is £15.

TWINGATES AC’s annual meeting will be held at Crompton Cricket Club, Glebe Street, Shaw, next Tuesday (8pm). All members are asked to attend.

The same request applies for Chadderton Mill AC’s AGM which will be held at the Dog Inn, Block Lane, Chadderton, on Wednesday (7pm).

Members should note that subs are due, with rejoining meetings being held at the Dog Inn on Wednesdays March 10, 17 and 24 (7pm-8pm).

Members should bring their membership cards and keys, as the gate lock will be changed and new keys issued.

People wishing to join Chadderton Mill AC can do so at their new members’ joining night at the Dog Inn on Wednesday, March 31 (7pm-8pm).


CHADDERTON AC’s remaining winter league matches will be held on Sundays February 28, March 7 and March 14.

CONRAD Taylor (Gilders) took second place in the Brookside open match with a level 22lb of mainly small carp, with a few silvers thrown in.

Chadderton Mill Lodge – Now free of ice and should fish well for this weekend’s winter league match. Maggot for carp and ide.

Hollingworth Lake – Pike and big perch with spinning and deadbaits the best options.
