NONLEAGUE FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY displayed a never-say-die attitude in a dramatic 4-2 win over Clitheroe in UniBond League division one north at Seel Park.
After an even first half, a two-goal burst from Nathan Taylor in the 48th and 50th minutes left the Lilywhites heading for a second defeat in the space of five days.
But Andy Russell reduced the deficit just after the hour mark - he swept the ball home from inside the six-yard area - before Chris McDonaugh converted a pinpoint left-wing cross for the equaliser five minutes later.
Play-off hopefuls Clitheroe continued to pose a threat, but it was Mossley who grabbed the lead with a 90th-minute goal from substitute Lee Blackshaw.
And to a cap a superb recovery, Matty Kay took his goals tally for the season in league and cup to 24 in the third minute of injury time.
CHADDERTON’S Vodkat North-West Counties League division one match at Norton United was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
But manager Paul Buckley is confident tonight’s contest at home to Barnoldswick Town will get the green light (kick-off 7.45pm).
The club’s reserve team beat Ashton Town 3-1 at Broadway on Saturday and no problems are envisaged after a dry couple of days.
“The pitch is heavy in places, but that’s only to be expected.
“Anyway, that should suit us as they are a good footballing side,” said Buckley, who has doubts surrounding defender John Rogers (calf) and midfielder Gaz Morris (concussion).
Andrew Pheby and Leon Walters were the scorers for the reserves and both are in contention for a place in the first-team starting line-up against Barnoldswick, who defeated Eccleshall 1–0 at the weekend.
OLDHAM Boro were also left kicking their heels after a waterlogged pitch put paid to their NWCL division one fixture at Irlam.
