Ward in crushing victory

SNOOKER: YORKSHIRE Ward 1 moved 11 points clear at the top of the Saddleworth Snooker League after thumping their nearest rivals Austerlands 1 by 5-1.

Ward 2 also recorded a good 5-1 win, with Reece Kershaw again in fine form with a 58 break.

Leaders hit back to share spoils



CRICKET Club entertained leaders Tara Leisure in the Saw-Tech Shaw Snooker League and the teams produced a cracking contest which was in doubt right to the end.



A fine 40 break from I Hewitt helped Cricket establish a 3-1 lead, but C Keating’s 86-60 win in the final frame gave Tara the aggregate by one point and forced a 3-3 draw.

There was another close battle when second and third played each other. Royton Cons fought back from 2-0 down to take the next three frames but missed out on the aggregate by just two points.

Steve Bramwell’s win for Moss Inn in the opening frame included a a 44 break.
