Promotion boost

SQUASH: Tame Valley improved their promotion prospects in Division 3 North-East by winning a thrilling encounter with close rivals Lancs Health 2nd in the North West Counties Squash League.

Jamie Maddox, Amir Manachouri and Steve Buxton helped them to a 3-2 success.

The seconds were pipped 3-2 by Lancs Health 4th, Wayne Smith and Mike Donohue recording wins, but the thirds raced to a 4-1 win over Fairways Lodge 4th thanks to John Heston, Steve Brannan, Richard Green and Rod Humphries.

Allan Rewat was the only winner as a weakened fourth team lost 4–1 to Rochdale 5th.
